Police in Florence called to respond to shots fired on Monday

Late Monday evening, around 8:30 PM, the Florence Police Department swiftly responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of Enterprise Street. Upon arrival, officers pinpointed the source of the shots and secured the area by establishing a perimeter.

Concerned for the safety of nearby residents, law enforcement officers conducted welfare checks and found that a stray bullet had penetrated a neighbor’s home, striking a bathtub. As a precautionary measure, surrounding residents were asked to evacuate until the situation was under control.

During the operation, authorities spotted a male individual inside the suspected residence who refused to comply with their instructions. In light of the escalating situation, the Florence/Lauderdale County SWAT Team was called in to assist. The SWAT team promptly arrived, entered the premises, and successfully apprehended the male suspect without any further complications.

Following the arrest, the individual was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The swift and coordinated response by law enforcement ensured the safety of the community and brought the situation to a peaceful resolution.
