The Florence Police Department has issued a warning to the public regarding a phone scam in which individuals are posing as representatives from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office and requesting money or personal information. If you happen to receive such a call, it is advised to promptly disconnect. Despite the fact that the number may appear to be spoofed to display the same number as the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, it is important to note that these calls do not originate from the Sheriff’s Office. The Florence Police or Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office will never reach out to individuals soliciting money or personal information.
