In a recent decision by the City of Loretto, residents are now mandated to secure a city burn permit for any outdoor burning activities throughout the entire year. The alteration was sanctioned by the city’s Board of Aldermen during their meeting on June 4. Initially, the board had adhered to the Tennessee Department of Forestry’s designated burn season, spanning from October 15 to May 15. However, the board has now shifted to necessitate a city permit for outdoor burning at all times.
Prior to engaging in any outdoor burning, individuals in Loretto must first reach out to city hall at 931-853-6797 to obtain approval. Subsequently, the items intended for burning will undergo an inspection before the burning activity can commence. This new regulation aims to ensure safety and proper monitoring of outdoor burning within the city limits.
