Response Operations Initiated in Maury County

In the aftermath of a destructive storm that swept through Maury County on Wednesday evening, response efforts are still ongoing. A tornado touched down in the area of Blackburn Lane, Lasea, and Lee Road around 5:45 PM, causing a 2-mile path of destruction in eastern Maury County. Tragically, one fatality has been confirmed as a result of the storm.

Numerous side roads off Bear Creek Pike will remain closed until further notice to allow crews to clear debris from the roadways. Many homes are still without power, adding to the challenges faced by residents in the affected areas.

The American Red Cross has been quick to respond to the crisis, offering assistance and support to those impacted by the storms. Individuals in need of help are urged to contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS for assistance.

At this time, volunteers are not being requested to ensure that first responders can efficiently address the damages caused by the storm. Instead of physical donations such as clothing or food, monetary contributions are the most helpful during times of disaster.

For those looking to provide monetary support, donations can be made in cash or by check at the Maury County Trustee’s Office located at 1 Public Square, Columbia, Tennessee 38401, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Debit and credit card donations are also accepted to aid in the relief efforts for those affected by the storm.
