Richard Glenn Jenkins, 76, of Columbia, TN, passed away on February 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 30, 1948, in Russellville, Kentucky, to the late James Turner Jenkins and Annie Joyce Jenkins, Richard, also known as Rick, was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
Rick began his career with the Kroger Company in Russellville and continued with the company when he moved to Columbia, TN in 1977. He managed the stores in Columbia and Lawrenceburg, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
He was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Sue Carol, and daughters Amy and Julie. The family tragically lost their daughter, Stacy, in 1986, which led Rick to fully dedicate his life to serving the Lord. He was a committed member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, where he held various leadership roles and served on the board for the Duck River Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Rick had a passion for the outdoors, spending time at the creek behind his home and enjoying fishing trips with friends on Center Hill Lake. He was also known for his love of music and spending time on his lawn mower.
In addition to his immediate family, Rick is survived by his grandchildren, Evan and Anne Lindsey Wolaver, and Ani and Adelyn Drane, as well as his sister, Shirley Stuart, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, with a visitation from 1:00 until 3:00, followed by the service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Duck River Fellowship of Christian Athletes or the Women’s Ministry at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
Rick will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a loyal friend, and a pillar of his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
