Richard Leroy Copper Jr. was born on February 13th, 1939, in McDonald, Kansas, and departed from this world on January 25th, 2025. He spent his formative years in Kiowa, Colorado, where he fondly reminisced about working on his family’s farm and enjoying his mother’s southern cooking.
Richard had a passion for sports, particularly basketball, baseball, and football. Despite not having a university education, he had a successful career as a draftsman and architect, showcasing his creative and gifted mind. His love for creativity extended beyond his professional life, as he enjoyed helping his family with art projects and fixing broken things.
He also had a successful career in ballroom dancing with his wife, Emily Copper, and later gave ballroom lessons in Lawrenceburg, TN. Richard was known for his structured routine, perfectionist mindset, and a great sense of humor. He loved making jokes and observing the world around him.
Above all, Richard was a devoted servant to his family, expressing his love through actions and tender care. He is survived by his wife, Emily A. Copper, four children, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister, and one brother.
Richard Leroy Copper, Jr. will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him. His love and distinctive presence have left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, and no services will be held. In lieu of services, the family welcomes floral tributes or tree plantings in memory of Richard Leroy.
