Roger Omer Pothier, 88, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. Born on August 4, 1936, in New Bedford, MA, Roger was the loving son of Omer and Irene (Renaud) Pothier. He is survived by his siblings Yvette Beaumont, Gerard Pothier (Rita Pothier), and Paul Pothier (Nancy Pothier).
Roger was a hardworking individual with a diverse career. He dedicated himself to various roles, including working at his family’s restaurant, managing a real estate company, and serving as an assessor. His unwavering work ethic defined him throughout his life.
In 1959, Roger married the love of his life, Joanne (Beaulieu) Pothier, and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage until her passing on 06/28/24. Together, they raised 5 children: Michael, Russell (Christine), Steven, Kathy (Wayne), and Kevin. Roger was also a proud grandfather to 11 and great-grandfather to 7.
Roger and Joanne shared many hobbies and were active members of the Lions Club in both New Bedford, MA, and North Myrtle Beach, SC. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing, and supporting their favorite sports teams.
In honor of Roger’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center of Boston, Massachusetts, and Freedom Guide Dogs in Cassville, NY.
Roger will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Joanne, dancing eternally.
