During its regular meeting on Friday, June 13, the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club was treated to an uplifting presentation by Rotarian Tina Holt, who discussed her involvement with Advocates For Africa, a Christian ministry dedicated to fostering hope, compassion, and education in Rwanda. Holt, a dedicated supporter of this organization, recounted her experiences from numerous mission trips to Ruhula, Rwanda, where she witnessed firsthand the transformative work being carried out at the Life Center. This center plays a crucial role in providing children with essential care, educational opportunities, and spiritual guidance.
Among the various impactful initiatives, Holt highlighted the provision of school uniforms, daily meals, and classroom instruction through the Advocates Christian Academy (ACA). Excitingly, a new middle school for ACA is currently under construction, aimed at broadening the scope of their mission. Holt illustrated the significant difference that even a small contribution can make, noting that just $17 is sufficient to feed a child for an entire month. She also spoke about her personal commitment to sponsoring several children in Rwanda, a commitment echoed by fellow Rotarians Tiffany Cope and Maria Santini, who have also chosen to support children through this organization.
While the majority of Advocates For Africa’s funding comes from a single major donor, the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club has proudly contributed cash donations to the organization for the past two years and has voted to extend that support into the upcoming year. Holt contrasted the ministry-operated school with government-run institutions in Rwanda, commending the individualized attention and care that students receive at Advocates. She encouraged others to learn more about the organization and consider getting involved by visiting advocatesforafrica.org.
The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club, which is part of Rotary District 6760, remains dedicated to the principle of service above self. The club continues to support both local and international initiatives that promote education, humanitarian efforts, and peace.
