Russellville Resident Faces Charges in Colbert and Franklin Counties

A man from Russellville has been apprehended following a new indictment in Colbert County, facing multiple drug-related charges. Destin Zane Kelly, a 28-year-old resident of Russellville, is currently confronting several drug offenses across both Franklin and Colbert counties. Recent court filings reveal that Kelly was taken into custody this week due to an indictment from Colbert County, which pertains to distinct drug allegations. This comes at a time when he is already scheduled to go to trial in February 2025 for drug trafficking charges in Franklin County.

In November 2023, a grand jury in Colbert County issued an indictment against Kelly, which includes two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and trafficking in fentanyl. The indictment specifies that Kelly was discovered with a mixture containing four grams or more of methamphetamine, suboxone, and fentanyl. On Friday, December 27th, Judge Kyle Brown of the Colbert County Circuit Court established Kelly’s bond at $150,000 and scheduled his arraignment for January 28th, 2025.

Currently, Kelly remains in custody at the Colbert County Jail, having been taken into custody on Sunday. In addition to the new charges in Colbert County, he is also facing numerous allegations in Franklin County and has a prior criminal record.
