Sandra Jean Dooley Lyons

Sandra Jean Dooley Lyons, age 85, born January 19, 1939, known as Momma and Granny to her family, spent her final weeks surrounded by her loved ones and her Savior, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024.  She continued caring for her husband and sons, smiled, and showed just a bit of spunk. Sandra expressed in her final days that she enjoyed seeing each of her sons every night the most.

In her past time Sandra enjoyed baking. Her famous “Granny rolls” were made for every family occasion and became a quick hot commodity at a recent fundraiser for her granddaughter, Kristin. She also loved sewing and quilting. One of her goals was to make a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Sandra used to love tending to her flower garden, which lined the border of her house. She was also a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.

Married for 68 years to Charles Lyons, Sandra and Charles gave life to four boys: Wayne Lyons (Tamie), David Lyons (Angie), Matthew Lyons (Carol), and Johnny Lyons (Jeci). The family tree continued to grow with their ten grandchildren: Justin, Amber, Benjamin (Kaley), Bryson (Alison), Jonathon, Kristin (Colton), Karlee (Lucas), J.C. (Lyndie), Shizuku, and William. Sandra lived to see six great-grandchildren enter the world as well: Lily, Carson, Logan, Axl, Archer, and Cooper.

After a life long-lived, she is reunited with her Lord, her mother and father, Mary Susie Pilkinton and Huie Monroe Dooley, her sister, Carol, her brother, Randy, and her beloved dog, Lady. She is survived by her sister, Frances Dooley; and her sister-in-law, Brenda Dooley; several nieces and nephews.

Those serving as pallbearers will be, Justin Lyons, Benjamin Lyons, Bryson Lyons, Jonathon Lyons, J.C. Lyons, Will Lyons, Colt Rochelle, and Lucas Hedrick.

We will forever miss her good cooking, conversations, and love. We’ll see you again soon!
