Series of Mailbox Vandalism Incidents Reported on Busby and Bluff Roads

Authorities are currently looking into a troubling series of mailbox vandalism incidents that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend along Busby Road and Bluff Road. At least six mailboxes have been confirmed as damaged during this time frame, prompting an investigation by local law enforcement.

On July 3, 2025, a deputy from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding property damage at a residence on Busby Road. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered that one mailbox had sustained significant damage, alongside another mailbox belonging to a resident who is wheelchair-bound. The evidence suggested that the mailboxes had been struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.

While the deputy was assessing the situation, a mail carrier passing through the area informed him that she had also noticed damaged mailboxes at two different addresses on Bluff Road. This information added to the growing concern regarding the extent of the vandalism.

As the deputy was concluding his investigation, another resident approached him to report that his mailbox had been dislodged from its post. This individual, who is a renter, indicated that although the mailbox was knocked off, it remained intact and he intended to reattach it himself.

Further developments on July 7 revealed yet another damaged mailbox located further down Busby Road, although no contact information was available for that particular resident. At this stage of the investigation, law enforcement has not identified any suspects, and it remains uncertain whether the damage was caused by reckless driving, intentional vandalism, or some other factor. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
