Severe Weather Hits Lawrence County, Resulting in Widespread Power Outages

On Sunday afternoon, around 3:00 PM, Lawrence County experienced a series of intense thunderstorms that unleashed powerful winds, resulting in widespread damage throughout the region. The city of Lawrenceburg and the northern areas of Lawrence County, particularly the community of Summertown, faced the brunt of the storm’s impact. At the peak of the severe weather, over 1,200 customers served by the Lawrenceburg Utility System found themselves without electricity due to downed trees and power lines.

In response to the storm’s aftermath, emergency personnel from Lawrence County Fire Rescue, the Lawrenceburg Fire Department, and various law enforcement agencies, along with the Emergency Management Agency (EMA), were mobilized to assist in the cleanup efforts. These teams worked diligently to clear debris from the roads and restore safe passage for residents.

The Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency has issued a reminder for all residents to exercise caution around any downed power lines and to report any hazards they encounter to local authorities. The community expresses gratitude to all the responding agencies and utility crews for their swift and professional actions in restoring power and ensuring the safety of the public.
