Storm Damage in Lawrence County Impacts Local Church

On Thursday evening, a fierce wind storm wreaked havoc across Lawrence County, resulting in numerous downed trees and power lines, as well as structural damage particularly in the northern and east-central regions of the county. The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 5:11 PM on April 10, 2025, and shortly after, high winds began to sweep through the area, causing significant disruptions.

Among the most notable incidents of damage was reported at the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church, where strong gusts tore off a section of the roof. In response to the storm’s aftermath, units from Lawrence County Fire and Rescue, along with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department, mobilized to address multiple reports of downed trees and power lines throughout the region. Crews from the Lawrenceburg Utility System (LUS) were also actively engaged in restoring power, as more than 450 customers found themselves without electricity at the peak of the outage.

In addition to the fire and utility crews, personnel from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Lawrence County Highway Department joined the efforts to clear debris and assist with cleanup operations. Law enforcement agencies, including officers from the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and local constables, were also on the scene to help manage the situation.

Emergency officials are advising residents to exercise caution around any downed power lines or debris and to promptly report any hazardous conditions to local authorities. As assessments of the damage continue, further updates will be provided to keep the community informed.
