Southern Tennessee Regional Health System – Pulaski (STRHS-Pulaski) has unveiled an ambitious initiative to renovate and expand its emergency department (ED) with a budget of $11 million. This significant undertaking is backed by Lifepoint Health, the hospital’s parent organization, which is committed to enhancing healthcare services in the region. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for early next year, during which detailed design and construction plans will be disclosed.
The expansion will see the emergency department relocated to a more prominent position at the front of the hospital, nearly doubling its current footprint by adding an impressive 4,624 square feet. This enhancement will increase the bed capacity from seven to eleven, incorporating specialized areas such as observation and holding rooms, as well as dedicated bariatric and trauma rooms. In addition to the physical expansion, the project will allocate over $1 million for upgrades to medical equipment, aimed at improving both patient care and the efficiency of staff workflows.
As the only provider of emergency services in Giles County, STRHS-Pulaski serves a critical role in the community, treating over 12,000 patients each year. The hospital is recognized as an accredited chest pain center, and the forthcoming improvements to the emergency department are anticipated to significantly enhance the patient experience. This expansion not only aims to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of the community but also reflects Lifepoint Health’s commitment to expanding access to quality care in the area. The hospital plans to keep the community informed with updates on the construction and design as the project moves forward.
