In recent developments, Florence police initiated an investigation on February 10th into a reported rape case involving a juvenile victim. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Daprecas Perkins, a resident of Florence. Through diligent detective work, additional evidence was gathered to substantiate the issuance of an arrest warrant for Perkins on the charge of first-degree rape. Taking swift action, officers apprehended Perkins on Tuesday. Currently, Perkins is in custody at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where he is being held without the option of bail.
