In a recent announcement, the Tennessee Department of Human Services revealed the launch of the Summer EBT Program for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Education, aims to support families by offering a new Supplemental Nutrition Benefit Program.
Under this program, families will receive $120 for each eligible school-aged child to purchase groceries during the school break. Eligibility for these benefits will be automatically extended to most families with children enrolled in the National School Lunch Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Families First, and/or TennCare.
The distribution of Summer EBT benefits will be facilitated by the Tennessee Department of Human Services, utilizing information provided by the Tennessee Department of Education, school districts, and funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service.
