The Summertown Utility District is preparing to submit a request for financial support aimed at enhancing its water system through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program. This initiative encompasses several key components designed to improve water supply and treatment capabilities. Among the planned upgrades is the establishment of an additional groundwater well located on Caldwell Road, which will serve to bolster the district’s water supply.
In conjunction with this new well, the project will involve the installation of a raw water pipeline connecting the well to the treatment facility. Furthermore, the existing groundwater well pumping system will undergo significant enhancements. The treatment system itself will also see improvements, including the addition of filtration chemical feed systems and increased clear well capacity.
Additionally, the high service pump will be replaced, and various sections of the water distribution system that are currently in subpar condition will be upgraded. To engage the community and gather input, a public information meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 19th, at 6:00 PM. This gathering will take place at 104 Shady Street in Summertown.
The meeting aims to provide an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to learn more about the proposed project and to voice their opinions regarding its economic and environmental implications, service areas, alternatives, and other relevant matters. Representatives from the Summertown Utility District will be present to clarify details of the proposal and address any questions attendees may have.
