Suspects Detained in Operation Safeguarding the Future

In a coordinated effort involving nineteen agencies, a total of twelve individuals are facing felony charges, while twenty-four victims have been identified in Tennessee as part of an operation targeting online child exploitation and sextortion. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, operating within its Cybercrime and Digital Evidence Unit, carried out the operation named “Protecting Tomorrow” over a three-month period from February to April. The operation spanned across 21 counties in the state with the primary goal of identifying and locating children who were victims of sextortion and online sexual exploitation, as well as apprehending individuals seeking to harm children online.

Among those charged in the operation is Cody Wilson, a 31-year-old man from Maury County, specifically from Columbia. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated as law enforcement authorities complete the forensic examination of the electronic devices seized during the operation.
