In a recent development, a man from Summertown has been taken into custody by deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. This follows an investigation into a report of a prowler that occurred on Monday. The individual, identified as fifty-year-old John Paul Jones, was already on the radar of law enforcement due to his alleged involvement in the theft of a 2015 Dodge Charger.
Residents in the area provided a description that closely matched Jones, prompting deputies to visit his residence located on Cummings Road. Upon arrival, they discovered the stolen vehicle parked in the driveway, its lights still illuminated. After confronting Jones at the scene, he complied with their requests and surrendered without incident.
As a result of these events, Jones now faces charges for theft of property valued over $1,000. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he will await further legal proceedings.
