A tragic incident unfolded in Lawrence County on Saturday night, resulting in the untimely death of a 16-year-old girl named Emily Hunt. According to local authorities, the single-vehicle accident took place at approximately 8:15 PM on Danely Road. The Iron City Fire Department was the first emergency team to arrive at the scene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s investigation revealed that Emily was driving her 2008 Nissan Altima northbound on Danley Road when she encountered a right curve. Unfortunately, she was unable to navigate the turn, causing her vehicle to veer off the roadway. The car struck an embankment and subsequently collided with several trees, which caused it to spin before finally coming to a halt, facing east across a ditch.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Emily was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, which underscores the unpredictable nature of such accidents. Emily was a beloved daughter of Andy and Kim Hunt and was a student at Loretto High School, where she was known for her vibrant spirit and dedication to her studies. The community mourns the loss of a young life filled with potential.
