A 16-year-old student from Perry County High School was apprehended on Thursday evening following the transmission of threatening messages to fellow students that referenced a handgun. The threats were communicated through the social media platform Snap Chat. Upon learning of the situation, school authorities promptly alerted Sheriff Nick Weems, who initiated an investigation without delay. As a result of the inquiry, the teenager was taken into custody and subsequently held overnight at the Perry County Jail, where she awaits her transfer to a juvenile detention center.
