In a significant development for higher education in Tennessee, the state Board of Examiners for Architects and Engineers has announced the allocation of $400,000 in awards to 19 programs across 13 colleges for the year 2025. This initiative, highlighted by the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI), aims to support both public and private universities that applied for funding through the Board’s Grants to Higher Education Program.
The awarded funds are designated for a variety of essential resources that enhance the educational experience for students enrolled in accredited programs in fields such as architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, and interior design. Specifically, these grants can be utilized to purchase computers for student use, acquire laboratory or instructional equipment, improve library resources, or assist with exam and internship fees.
The colleges receiving these grants represent all three Grand Divisions of Tennessee, showcasing a diverse range of institutions. In West Tennessee, notable recipients include Christian Brothers University, Union University, the University of Tennessee-Martin, and the University of Memphis. Moving to Middle Tennessee, Lipscomb University, Tennessee Tech University, Middle Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, and Belmont University are among the beneficiaries. Finally, in East Tennessee, the funding will support East Tennessee State University, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. This distribution of funds reflects a commitment to fostering educational excellence across the state.
