On Tuesday, January 7, agents from the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence situated at 302 N Cherokee St. in Florence, Alabama. This operation was prompted by intelligence indicating that one of the occupants was involved in drug trafficking activities. The Florence/Lauderdale Special Operations Team conducted the entry into the home, where they encountered several individuals present at the time.
During the search, law enforcement officials uncovered a significant cache of illegal substances. The haul included approximately 56 grams of methamphetamine, both in its crystal form known as ICE and in other forms, alongside 112 grams of both crack and powder cocaine. Additionally, agents seized 500 fentanyl pills, 168 grams of heroin, and 200 hydrocodone pills. A small quantity of marijuana and synthetic marijuana, commonly referred to as spice, were also found. The operation yielded several firearms and various items associated with drug use and distribution, all of which contributed to a total street value exceeding $30,000.
As a result of the operation, three individuals were arrested. Terry Eugene King, aged 47, faces four drug-related charges, while Calvin Dewayne Shelby, 43, has been charged with two offenses. Loren Paige Tatum, 27, has been charged once. Authorities have indicated that further charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
