A routine traffic stop in Lauderdale County on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, resulted in a major drug seizure and the arrest of a suspect. The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office reported that Deputy Adam Meeks initiated the stop at the intersection of Highway 20 and County Road 13. Deputy Connor Barton joined him to provide assistance during the encounter.
The driver, identified as Travis Leon Young, was found to have active felony warrants issued by Lauderdale County. During a thorough inventory search of Young’s vehicle, deputies uncovered approximately 41.4 grams of methamphetamine, in addition to marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. As a result of these findings, Young was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including Trafficking Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana in the second degree.
Sheriff Joe Hamilton highlighted the department’s commitment to tackling drug-related offenses, asserting that the Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to enforcing drug laws throughout the county. This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address and reduce drug crime in the area.
