On Tuesday, April 15th, emergency responders from Lawrence County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 27 Dobbins Road, located within the South East Fire District, shortly after 2:00 PM. Initial reports from Lawrence County E-911 indicated a potential emergency, and moments later, dispatch relayed a second alarming message from an individual on the premises. This report confirmed that the residence was fully engulfed in flames, and nearby family members were desperately attempting to rescue a bedridden patient trapped inside.
Upon arrival, the first responders confirmed the presence of a wind-driven fire consuming a split-level home of approximately 3,000 square feet. In addition to the house, three vehicles parked at the location were also ablaze. As firefighting efforts commenced, personnel utilized both master streams and hand-lines to combat the raging inferno. Tragically, firefighters later discovered the victim, and it is with deep sorrow that Lawrence County Fire and Rescue announced that the individual did not survive the devastating fire.
Due to the severity of the situation and the limited manpower available, additional resources were summoned to assist with both rescue and fire suppression efforts. Compounding the challenge was the absence of reliable fire hydrants in the area. At the same time, LCFR units were also managing a critical medical emergency elsewhere in the county, as well as responding to an injury-related car accident.
In the aftermath of the incident, the staff collaborated with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The Lawrenceburg Fire Department’s drone team was also deployed to support the investigation. For any inquiries regarding the fire investigation, the TBI Criminal Investigation Division Fire Investigation Unit is the appropriate contact.
From Radio7 Media, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected family and express our gratitude to all emergency personnel who responded to this tragic event.
