Severe winter weather has prompted the closure of several schools and offices in Tennessee and Alabama. Lawrence County, Lewis County, Marshall County, Wayne County, Bedford County, Maury County, and Giles County schools will be closed on various days this week due to the inclement weather. Additionally, Florence City Schools, Colbert County Schools, Lauderdale County Schools, and Muscle Shoals City Schools in Alabama will also be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The State of Tennessee offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, with employees who are able to work remotely encouraged to do so. Furthermore, Mt. Pleasant City Hall, City of Columbia offices, Maury County offices, and all Lawrence County government offices, including the library, archives, and solid waste transfer station, will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the weather conditions.
Several businesses and organizations in the area have also announced closures, including Loretto City Offices, Ethridge City Hall, and various medical and dental offices. Additionally, the South Central Human Resources Agency offices and centers will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, while other businesses such as restaurants, banks, and retail stores have also announced closures.
