The Lawrenceburg City Council has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 9:00 AM in the Council Meeting Room at the Municipal Complex on 25 Public Square. Those interested in addressing the agenda items are required to sign in before the meeting commences.
The council will be reviewing several ordinances during the meeting. The first ordinance, NO. 1394, pertains to imposing a privilege tax on the occupancy of hotels, motels, or any place providing lodging to transient individuals for compensation. This ordinance will undergo its first reading.
Following that, ordinance NO. 1395 will be discussed, focusing on amending ordinance number 789, known as the “Zoning Ordinance of the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee,” specifically concerning property owned by Kay Hill Ferguson Smith.
Additionally, ordinance NO. 1396 will be introduced to amend ordinance NO. 1366, which deals with budget appropriations of revenue and expenditures for the 2023-2024 fiscal year for the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee General Fund. This ordinance will also undergo its first reading.
In terms of resolutions, the council will consider a resolution authorizing the Lawrenceburg Fire Department to apply for a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant through FEMA. The grant aims to hire six full-time frontline firefighters for a three-year period and engage Vickers Consulting Services Inc. to assist in the application process.
Another resolution on the agenda involves declaring certain property surplus within the Police Department to be disposed of following the City of Lawrenceburg’s purchasing policy.
Furthermore, a resolution will be discussed to authorize the Lawrenceburg Police Department to procure a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD commercial vehicle from Wilson County Motors in Lebanon, Tennessee, through the state bid contract.
Lastly, a resolution will be presented for the City of Lawrenceburg to enter into an agreement with Lawrence County, Tennessee (County Trustee Office), and American Financial Credit Services for the recovery of delinquent personal property taxes as mandated by the Chancery Court for Lawrence County, Tennessee.
