In recent years, the Lawrence County Fire Rescue and Lawrenceburg Fire Department have joined forces with the State Fire Marshal’s “Get Alarmed” initiative. This program offers free smoke alarms to households across Tennessee, thanks to grants. The effectiveness of this program in saving lives cannot be understated.
Currently, the Smoke Alarm Blitz is underway. This year, in light of the tragic fire incident in Lawrence County, the initiative will be dedicated to the memory of Jackson Wissner, Elizabeth Brown, and Travis Wissner. These individuals lost their lives in a house fire in early May.
The primary objective of the Smoke Alarm Blitz is to enhance safety by distributing operational smoke alarms to residents at no cost. If you require functioning smoke detectors in your residence, reach out to your local fire station or send a message via the Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Tennessee Facebook page.
