A man from Columbia has received a lengthy prison sentence of 65 years for his involvement in the tragic murder of Sharon Gillespie, a resident of Lawrenceburg. The incident occurred in April 2021 when Gillespie was shot outside The Summit assisted living facility, where she worked. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after the attack.
Following the incident, two individuals from Columbia, Brandon Waire and Victoria Cash, both aged 40, were indicted on several serious charges, including first-degree murder, homicide, robbery, and various narcotics-related offenses. Waire faced trial in October, where he was convicted of second-degree murder and aggravated assault. Meanwhile, Cash has yet to stand trial but is scheduled for a plea hearing on January 21.
