In Lawrence County, members of the fire department swiftly responded to a reported fire incident on Sunday. The fire involved vehicles and brush and was dangerously close, within 30 feet, of a residential structure. The emergency call came in around 1:40 PM, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene located on Grassey Branch Road.
Upon arrival, the fire crews encountered a challenge as they were unable to access the driveway with a fire apparatus. Despite this obstacle, the personnel improvised by using a long hose to reach the burning vehicles. They had to cut through the tree line to gain access while another team worked to protect the residence by using fire extinguishers.
After successfully containing the fire near the house, the firefighters focused on extinguishing the remaining 1.5 acres of field fire. They employed hand tools and water extinguishers to put out the flames effectively. The incident took place in the Gandy Fire District, highlighting the coordinated efforts of the responders in managing the situation and preventing further damage.
