Williamson County Launches Operation Fallback

On Monday, November 4th, a collaborative effort was undertaken by various law enforcement agencies, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Murfreesboro Police Department, Smyrna Police Department, Franklin Police Department, and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit. This initiative, known as Operation Fallback, was focused on addressing critical issues such as reckless driving, drowsy driving, speeding, and distracted driving along I-840 and SR-96.

The results of this operation were quite telling. Over the course of a single day, law enforcement managed to respond to one car accident and one instance of reckless driving. In addition, officers conducted a total of 144 vehicle stops, which led to a significant number of citations being issued. Specifically, 73 citations were given for speeding violations, while 15 citations were issued for hands-free device usage. Furthermore, there was one citation related to the move-over law, alongside 40 other traffic infractions.

In terms of warnings, officers issued 30 warning citations, and they also dealt with six violations concerning driver’s licenses, which included cases of suspended, revoked, cancelled, and unlicensed drivers. Additionally, four seatbelt citations were recorded, and the operation resulted in the arrest of one individual with an outstanding warrant, as well as one DUI arrest. Lastly, four citations were issued for financial responsibility violations. This concerted effort by the various law enforcement agencies clearly demonstrates their commitment to enhancing road safety in the region.
