The Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) has announced the distribution of $5 million in grant funding to support 125 senior centers throughout the state. These one-time grants aim to enhance various aspects of programming, health and wellness initiatives, facility upgrades, and other projects that foster social connections and community involvement for older adults.

In Southern Middle Tennessee, several senior centers are set to benefit from this funding initiative. Among the recipients in this region are the Lawrence County Senior Citizens Club, Lewis County Senior Citizen Center, Marshall County Senior Citizens, Maury County Senior Citizens, Franklin County Senior Citizens, Giles County Senior Citizens, Moore County Senior Citizens, Perry County Senior Centers, Wayne County Senior Citizens, the Sewanee Senior Citizens Center, and the Shelbyville/Bedford County Senior Citizens Center.

The DDA has confirmed that every one of the 125 centers that submitted applications for the program will receive financial support, with individual awards ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. These grants are specifically designed to assist with various projects, including equipment upgrades, capital improvements, the introduction of new programming, marketing efforts, and certain operational costs.
