John Wesley Smith, 84, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at Southern TN Regional Health System. Wes, as he was affectionately known, retired from Sharp Motor Company in Pulaski, TN after many years of dedicated service as a mechanic. He was a man of faith, being a member of the Baptist Church. Wes had a passion for fishing, playing pool, and working on old cars. He cherished spending time with his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruby C. Smith, his son Johnny David Smith, and his brothers Red Junior Smith and Tommy Smith. He is survived by his children, John Randall Smith (Stephanie) of Lawrenceburg, and Debbie Newton (Jerry) of Lexington, AL; his grandson, Wesley Troppello of Lawrenceburg; his brother, Bud Smith of Lawrenceburg; his aunt, Charlene Foust; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special caregiver, Charity Mendeze of Lawrenceburg.
Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Following the visitation, Graveside Services will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Leoma, TN, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pastor David Simmerman will be officiating.
Wes will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
