The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has officially kicked off its fifth annual No Trash November initiative, which aims to eliminate an impressive 75,000 pounds of litter from the state’s roads and waterways throughout the month. This initiative is part of the broader Nobody Trashes Tennessee campaign, which has been instrumental in promoting litter prevention across the state.
In a show of support for these efforts, Governor Bill Lee has declared November as No Trash November Month, highlighting the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Since the inception of this campaign in 2021, TDOT has organized over 480 cleanup events, resulting in the removal of nearly 250,000 pounds of litter from various locations across Tennessee.
Residents of Tennessee are encouraged to take an active role in this initiative by either joining existing cleanup events or organizing their own within their communities. To facilitate this, TDOT has introduced the No Trash November Trash Tracker, available at nobodytrashestennessee.com, which allows participants to monitor their progress in litter removal. Additionally, volunteers can take part in the Trash Masters Rewards program, where they can accumulate points that can be redeemed for local discounts and merchandise as a reward for their commitment to litter prevention.
