On the evening of October 11th, shortly after 8:30 PM, emergency responders from Lawrence County Fire Rescue were alerted to a serious motor vehicle accident on Buffalo Road, close to Valley Road. Reports indicated that one vehicle was engulfed in flames and that individuals were trapped inside. The first units to arrive on the scene were from the Ethridge Fire Department, who quickly assessed the situation and confirmed that two individuals were critically pinned within one of the vehicles.
Although the fire had been successfully extinguished, the gravity of the entrapment was evident. The incident commander promptly called for additional support to assist with the rescue efforts. As the rescue team worked diligently to free the trapped individuals, two air medical helicopters were dispatched to the location to provide rapid transport once the patients were extricated.
Once access to the patients was achieved, personnel from Lawrence County EMS began administering necessary medical treatment. Following the successful extrication, both patients were airlifted to Level 1 Trauma Centers for further care. In addition to the initial responders, units from the Lawrenceburg Fire Department arrived to provide mutual aid. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
