The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) have announced that 196 volunteer fire departments in Tennessee will receive grants as part of the $10 million Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training Grant Program. The grants aim to support Tennessee volunteer fire departments.
During the application period from November 1 to November 30, 2023, the State Fire Marshal’s Office received 301 applications from Tennessee fire departments. The applications underwent a review, scoring, and were then submitted to a seven-member committee for the final award selection. The grants were awarded equally to fire departments across Tennessee’s three grand divisions, as required by law.
The chosen volunteer fire departments in the include Bedford County Fire, Center Point Fire Department, City of Hohenwald, City of Loretto, City of St Joseph, Hardin County Fire Department, Crossroads Volunteer, Ethridge Fire Department, Gandy Volunteer Fire Department, Henryville Fire Department, Lawrence County Fire and Rescue, Lincoln County Volunteer Fire Rescue, Ovilla Fire Department, Wayne County Emergency Management, West End Volunteer Fire Department, West Point Fire Department, and Williamson Fire and Emergency Services.
