Larry Hamby, age 70 of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday February 21, 2026 at Dyersburg Hospital.
Larry was born in Decatur, AL on January 28, 1956 to Billy Eugene and Tera Irene Amerson Hamby. He retired from Maremont Gabriel, served in the Army National Guard, and was a member of the 278 ACR TNG Calvary. Larry loved talking, watching The History Channel, and playing drums for The Gospel Witnesses as well as having a deep passion for military history. He is preceded in death by his parents Billy and Tera Hamby; wife Cathy Hamby; sister Janice Morgan.
Graveside Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday February 25, 2026 in Maplewood Cemetery.
Larry is survived by his son Jeremy Hamby of Winchester; daughter Monica Mervis of Ohio; brother Billy W. Hamby (Lori) of Missouri; granddaughter Kathy Lynn Mervis; as well as numerous friends and classmates of Lynnville High School.
