Robert Wayne Storey, age 92, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. Wayne was born July 30, 1933, to Farris Deamer Storey and Myrtle Elizabeth Beddingfield Storey in Dellrose, Tennessee.
Wayne, the eldest of five Storey siblings, became the family’s patriarch at 13 when his father died. He left school to support his two younger brothers and two sisters, taking on this responsibility with determination and commitment.
Wayne began working as a clerk at the Kroger Company before being called to serve in the Army at age twenty. He fought in the Korean War and was stationed in Korea, where he joined Company H-Heavy Weapons, 31st Infantry Regiment of the US Army. As a mechanic, he repaired army vehicles close to the front lines. Wayne rose to the rank of Sergeant and received an honorable discharge in September 1955.

He returned to work at Kroger, training as a semi-truck driver and delivering products to stores across Louisville, Atlanta, Birmingham, and nearby areas. As president of the Local Teamster Union, he represented coworkers with integrity. He retired after more than 45 years at Kroger with an excellent driving record.Wayne was the father of two children: Jerry Storey and Terri Storey. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Over 45 years ago, he married Milah Ann Storey, expanding his family to include Ronny Huff as his second son. Ronny became both a close friend and an invaluable support in his preferred activity, working on the family farm, raising cattle, and spending summers in the hay fields.Wayne was known for his integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic. He cared deeply for animals, often giving names to his cattle.He was preceded in death by his parents, Farris and Myrtle Storey; his brother, George Storey; his sisters, Wanda Mitchell and Jewel Robinson; and his son, Jerry Storey. He is survived by his devoted wife, Milah Storey; his daughter, Terri Sheldon (Mark); his second son, Ronnie Huff (Darlene); brother Grady Storey (Sandra); seven grandchildren—Christie Tharp, Tabatha Storey, Ashleigh Chapman, Lindsey Stickler, Ellsworth Sheldon, Megan Bottoms, and Rachel Forbert—and seventeen great-grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of love, commitment, and honor. His testimony of accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savoir years ago assures us all who believe, will see his wonderful face again.
Visitation will be 12-2pm Saturday February 28, 2026 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral to follow at 2pm. Interment will be in Storey Cemetery following the service.
