A Sheffield resident has been apprehended following a grand jury’s indictment on charges of sexually abusing a child under the age of twelve. The indictment was issued by a grand jury in Colbert County, leading to the arrest of 58-year-old Jerry Wayne Brackin on Monday, February 10th. The investigation into the allegations began on October 3rd, 2024, when the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) alerted law enforcement to claims involving a seven-year-old victim, as reported by the Sheffield Police Department.
Following a thorough investigation, the case was presented to the grand jury, which resulted in Brackin’s indictment. He is currently being held at the Colbert County Jail with a bond set at $30,000. An arraignment for Brackin has been scheduled for March 20th at 9:00 AM, presided over by Circuit Judge Mitch Hays.
