In a troubling incident that has drawn the attention of federal authorities, a man has been accused of sexually abusing a child, as reported by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. The situation unfolded on Sunday when deputies were alerted to a disturbing complaint involving a suspect who was allegedly caught in the act of molesting a child under the age of twelve.
Upon arrival, Deputy Bradley Fontenot discovered that the suspect had been restrained by the victim’s family until law enforcement could intervene. The child was promptly transported to a local hospital for necessary medical treatment and evaluation. The accused, identified as 38-year-old Luis Lopez-Martinez, was taken into custody and, during an interrogation, he reportedly admitted to the crime, stating, “It is what it is.”
A bond of $250,000 has been established for Lopez-Martinez, who is also being held under an immigration detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Authorities continue to investigate the case, which remains active at this time.
