In a heartwarming ceremony held in Lebanon, 28 dedicated individuals from Lawrence County’s First Responder community and Leoma Elementary School were recognized with the prestigious Project Adam Heart Hero Award. The award was bestowed upon them in recognition of their exceptional efforts in saving the life of young student Alanna Owen during a critical incident that unfolded on the school playground in April of the previous year.
Alanna Owen had experienced a sudden cardiac arrest, causing her to cease breathing. Without hesitation, the school staff sprang into action, swiftly initiating life-saving cardiac procedures. Their quick response was further supported by the arrival of emergency medical personnel who seamlessly took over the rescue efforts. Following the harrowing ordeal, Alanna was promptly transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where she received the necessary medical care and eventually made a full recovery.
Among the distinguished honorees were the dedicated school personnel, E-911 Dispatchers, as well as members of various crucial departments including Lawrence County Fire & Rescue, Lawrenceburg Fire Department, Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service, and Air Evac Lifeteam 110. Their coordinated and swift actions undoubtedly played a pivotal role in ensuring the successful outcome of this life-saving mission.
