During a recent ceremony held at the Cherry Theater, Columbia State Community College celebrated the achievements of 18 emergency medical technicians and 31 paramedics who successfully completed their certification programs. The Summer 2025 EMS Pinning Ceremony highlighted the impressive accomplishments of these graduates, particularly noting that the EMT cohort achieved a remarkable 94% pass rate on their first attempt at the national registry exam. In a notable display of excellence, the paramedic group achieved a perfect 100% pass rate on the Paramedic National Registry Cognitive Exam on their first try.
This achievement is particularly significant as it marks the third consecutive year that the paramedic cohorts have attained a 100% first-attempt pass rate, and it represents four out of the last five years of similar success. Among the graduates from Lawrence County were Braden Guthrie and Alexandra Harrell, while Jazmin Powell-Van Alstine from Wayne County was also honored for her accomplishments in the paramedic program.
Graduates of both the EMT and paramedic programs have the opportunity to further their education by pursuing a General Technology Associate of Applied Science degree. This degree combines the specialized training received through their certificates with essential general education courses.
