Morgan’s background includes serving as the Director of The Memphis Humane Society and as President of PuppyUp, a canine cancer awareness association.
While the shelter is currently open for adoptions, it is closed to new intakes except for law enforcement emergencies. McKinnly acknowledged the challenges posed by shelters reaching capacity and highlighted Morgan’s focus on reducing resident numbers through adoption, transport, and rescue partnerships to expedite the reopening for community dog admissions.
