Wednesday Closings in Giles County

In a show of solidarity and recognition of the historical significance of Juneteenth, the City of Pulaski and Giles County offices will remain closed this Wednesday. Joining them in honoring the holiday, Pulaski Electric System will also suspend its operations for the day.

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The decision to close these government offices and the electric system reflects a growing acknowledgment of the importance of this day in American history.

Residents and employees are encouraged to take this time to reflect on the struggles and achievements of African Americans throughout history, and to participate in events and activities that celebrate freedom and equality. The closures serve as a reminder of the ongoing journey towards a more inclusive and just society for all.
