Mr. Thomas P. Johnston, age 79, a resident of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Deerfield Church of Christ, 4085 Waynesboro Highway, Lawrenceburg, TN. The visitation will also be held on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on August 19, 1946, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas Lindsey Johnston and the late Maggie Sue Porter Johnston. He worked over twenty years at Murray Ohio before transferring to McFalls Storage where he retired. He was a devoted member of Deerfield Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and working with horses. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Retha Williams Johnston of Lawrenceburg, daughter, Pam Johnston of Lawrenceburg, sons, Thomas “Buddy” (Tonya) Johnston of Lawrenceburg, Michael (April) Johnston of Chattanooga, TN, brother, Bob (Gloria) Johnston of Lawrenceburg, sisters, Linda Smith of Lawrenceburg, Gwen (Donnie) Gilliam of Summertown, grandchildren, Brooke, Marcus, Anna, Addison, Zane, and Zachary, and great grandchildren, Evalynn and Teagan.
