Center Point Fire and Rescue Achieves Notable Success in January

In January, Center Point Fire and Rescue was active in responding to a total of four emergency calls. Among these incidents, the department dealt with three brush fires, alongside one structure fire that required their attention. In a significant development for the department, they successfully installed a washer and dryer specifically for cleaning their firefighting gear, thanks to funding received from the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

The dedication of volunteers was evident, as they collectively contributed 100 hours to various activities, including responding to emergencies, participating in training sessions, and assisting with operations at the station. Additionally, the fire station celebrated the introduction of a new brush truck into service, replacing an older unit that had served for 25 years and accumulated 200,000 miles. This upgrade not only enhances their operational capacity but also allows for the transportation of more equipment, enabling the firefighters to utilize alternative water sources such as creeks, ponds, and swimming pools during firefighting efforts.

Furthermore, the station benefited from the support of the County Commission, which played a crucial role in facilitating significant savings for necessary repairs and upgrades. These improvements are aimed at enhancing the department’s ability to serve the community more effectively.
