District Attorney Brent Cooper has officially announced the return of the Night to Honor event, an annual gathering dedicated to supporting families who have experienced the tragic loss of a loved one due to homicide in the counties of Giles, Lawrence, Maury, and Wayne. This poignant observance is scheduled for Monday, December 8, at 6:00 PM, and will be held at the First Baptist Church located at 2100 Springer Road in Lawrenceburg. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, with registration beginning at 5:15 PM.
This year’s program will feature a heartfelt testimony from Elizabeth Bargen, whose daughter, Misty McWhorter, tragically lost her life in a car accident caused by a drunk driver on November 26, 2010, in Lawrence County. The driver responsible for this devastating incident was subsequently convicted and sentenced to prison. Night to Honor serves as a vital platform for families to reflect on their losses, receive support from the community and local victim assistance services, and pay tribute to their loved ones.
Participants are invited to bring a photograph of their deceased family member to be included in the ceremony, as well as an ornament to adorn a Remembrance Wreath. For those seeking further details or wishing to RSVP by the deadline of December 3, please reach out to the District Attorney’s Office at 931-766-1453 ext. 6107, or send an email to Kendra Cannon at [email protected].
