In the early hours of Friday, November 29th, around 4:30 AM, the Lauderdale Sheriff’s Office received a report of gunfire in the vicinity of Perry Street and Pruitt Street in Florence. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found a chaotic situation with approximately thirty individuals gathered in the street. Among them was a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, who was promptly transported to the North Alabama Medical Center for medical attention.
Witnesses present during the incident were able to identify Deangelis Dewayne Nance, a resident of Florence, as the individual responsible for the shooting. However, Nance had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived. Following a brief period of investigation, he was apprehended on Thursday, December 5th. Nance now faces a charge of first-degree assault and is currently being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, with a bond set at $30,000.
