On Thursday, law enforcement in Florence took Sherry Stapler White into custody after she was discovered inside a vehicle that was not hers, attempting to drive away. This unusual incident unfolded at the Sonic restaurant located on Helton Drive. The rightful owner of the car managed to leap through the driver’s window to shift the vehicle into park, preventing White from making her escape.
Following this, White exited the car and proceeded to assault the owner. Fortunately, employees at Sonic intervened during the altercation, prompting White to flee the scene before the police could arrive. However, in a surprising turn of events, she returned to the location while officers were still present, leading to her arrest.
White now faces charges of first-degree theft of property and is currently being held on a bond set at $30,000.
