Six Arrested in Lauderdale County Child Exploitation Operation

Six individuals were arrested in Lauderdale County during a law enforcement operation aimed at adults attempting to engage in unlawful sexual activity with children. This operation took place in the Florence area over the course of Friday and Saturday in August 2026.
The arrested individuals include Charles Steve Druckemiller, 44, from Clearwater, Florida; Kirk Joel Berryman, 61, from Tuscumbia; Christopher Martin Elmore, 37, from Waterloo; Christopher Blake Hall, 51, from Florence; Justin Lee Pace, 38, also from Florence; and William Riley Hughes, 34, who is also from Florence.
This operation involved collaboration among multiple law enforcement agencies, underscoring the seriousness of the issue. During the operation, firearms were seized from four of the six individuals arrested. The charges against these individuals include first-degree human trafficking and solicitation of prostitution. Notably, five of the individuals charged with human trafficking are currently being held without bond, while William Riley Hughes is being held on a bond set at $500.
Sheriff Joe Hamilton emphasized that protecting children is a high priority for law enforcement in the area. He issued a warning that those who target children will face serious legal consequences for their actions.
